So have you ever seen a movie based on a book before reading it? I tend not to see the movies of the books I have read because I am very disappointed in what is done to the story. Usually a lot of good detail is left out. But recently I watched 2 movies where I wonder if that was the same. Girl with Pearl Earring and Bridget Jones's Diary. So in the last 2 days I read these 2 books and I have some comments.
Girl with Pearl Earring - The movie was good, but very quiet and the ending was sort of a mystery to me. I have nothing bad to say of the actors or the way the story was told, but I felt it was missing a narrative by the main character. So I read the book, looking for it, and found it. Of course the ending was a tad different from the movie, but at least I felt there was closure. I can say that both the book and movie are good. Read the book first, and you won't be disappointed by the movie.
Bridget Jones's Diary - Love, Love, Love the movie. Don't really see how the book had anything to do with the movie. I found it strange that some of the lines of the movie come straight from the book, but the really good lines are no where in the book. I was sort of disappointed in the book all together. Hollywood made this story better than the writer intended I think. I have no want to read the follow up book. I will stick with the movies being better than the books on this one.
