$1025 Christian Louboutin's

So we all know I have a thing for really, really expensive shoe. (Have you seen my Manolo Blahnik's??) I don't try on anything that is under $800 or for that matter buy anything under $800 when it comes to designer shoes. So here is my next dream pair, from Christian Louboutin, if only they had my size while I was at the store in Las Vegas (inside the Palazzo Hotel). So there is a picture of them, and then a picture of them on my feet (one size too big.)

So this trip I didn't get the shoes, but I did get a Dooney & Burk Bag. I've been salivating over these for years, and after the 6th trip to the the Venetian Hotel to have a peek at the bags, hubby bought me one!!!!! I think it's a pretty good Happy 8th Wedding Anniversary gift.

Twilight

So I have just spent the last week reading the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer. Yes I saw the movie first, then started reading the books. And well I should have just stuck to the movies. The first 3 books, Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse were good. Loved the teen drama and the fight over love and right and wrong. But the last book, Breaking Dawn, well it gave me nightmares, made my stomach turn, and left me cursing the end. It was like the author took 3 books to tell one story line, got lazy or impatient and well finished the rest of the story off in 700+ pages. And yes I didn't like the outcome of the end, I sort of was wishing the best man won.

But reading the last book made me think of another topic and that is banning books in school. I don't know if it's because I'm older or have to much time on my hands, but I would never allow a 12 year old to read that last book. Party because of the gore but also because it took adult issues and made it acceptable for teens to read about. In this day and age I was happy to see the promotion of marriage before sex, but at 18 and in a time when it is no longer necessary, it just irritated me. Then the concepts of child birth, and motherhood caught me off guard. It was just too much for the young age for my taste. And now I sort of understand when people get up in arms about certain books being taught in the schools. And I've read a few other novels from the "teen" section and have come to the same conclusion.

So what I think is that authors have gotten smart when their stuff stops selling, or figured out another market to pander their stories too. One were we accept adult concepts as something teenagers can understand and grasp, and they are staking the innocents that has been lost due to the changing times. Just because TV says it's OK to take advantage of young minds, is it really OK for adult writters to do the same thing???

2 Books in 2 Days

So have you ever seen a movie based on a book before reading it? I tend not to see the movies of the books I have read because I am very disappointed in what is done to the story. Usually a lot of good detail is left out. But recently I watched 2 movies where I wonder if that was the same. Girl with Pearl Earring and Bridget Jones's Diary. So in the last 2 days I read these 2 books and I have some comments.

Girl with Pearl Earring - The movie was good, but very quiet and the ending was sort of a mystery to me. I have nothing bad to say of the actors or the way the story was told, but I felt it was missing a narrative by the main character. So I read the book, looking for it, and found it. Of course the ending was a tad different from the movie, but at least I felt there was closure. I can say that both the book and movie are good. Read the book first, and you won't be disappointed by the movie.

Bridget Jones's Diary - Love, Love, Love the movie. Don't really see how the book had anything to do with the movie. I found it strange that some of the lines of the movie come straight from the book, but the really good lines are no where in the book. I was sort of disappointed in the book all together. Hollywood made this story better than the writer intended I think. I have no want to read the follow up book. I will stick with the movies being better than the books on this one.

13

I was going to save this post for my 8 year wedding anniversary. But when I noticed the date on my calendar yesterday I had to smile. June 5, 1996 was the day my husband told me to mark on my calendar as first official day as a couple. We were not defined until that day, when a cousin of his said she was so excited he brought his girlfriend home. And when I turned to him and asked is that what I was, he said yes.

So 13 years is a very long time. It's almost half my life. And it's funny when I tell people how long I've been married and they are wowed by the almost 8 years. Then I shock them with, "but we've been together for 13." Longevity is sort of a novelty these days I guess. And it's funny because when I hear about young brides to be I'm sort of shocked myself. I forget I was only 24 when I married. And at that time I thought I was old. Now going on 32 I think, wow that was really young. Funny how life changes your opinions.

But it's been a wonderful 13 years and I don't regret a single day. But I guess I knew then what I know now, that I will always love my husband and my life was nothing and will be nothing without him.

Time flys

So it's been a while. Here's the short of it.

Good temp job ended when they ran out of space for me after condensing the office down to 1/8 it's normal size. I miss that place. I have had 2 interviews in 1 month and temp agency's act like they don't know me when I call.

The farmers market started and I'm not happy with my new space of the stupid bakery lady next to me. Oh and her cupcakes were horrible. Sales were low and people were picky.

The house hunt is still on. I don't believe a competent smart Realtor exists in this world.

Life is good with hubby and the cats.

I've read a few books but nothing worth noting yet. Any suggestions.

So that is the short of it.

Update

Well it's been a while since I've been here. I turned my crafting website into a craft blog and that has taken up a lot of my time. But I feel it is not the outlet for other things going on in my life.

So I am out of work again, and the job market sucks. I have resorted to taking my college education off my resume so that I am more qualified for those $14 jobs that are available in my city. And sadly I am way overqualified and will never be paid fairly if I continue to work in the city I live in. But I will always keep looking and keep my fingers crossed. I'll land something.

As for books I've read. I finished Chasing Harry Winston by Lauren Weisberger. It wasn't very good and it smelled a lot like Sex in the City, minus 1 character. Very boring, the plot wasn't all that good, and well there wasn't much Harry. The other book I just finished was called Dewey. It was about a library that found a kitten in their book return. Real story, bad writer. And of course just like Marley and Me, it ended with a lot of tears. No more books about pets for a long time.

As for the rest of my life, home is good, cats are good, hubby is good. The crafting toils on but I haven't been very productive. Sort of in a rut these days.

Lets see the baggers at the grocery store are still making me mad. I still hate the old bitties that come to our HOA meetings and complain about pogo sticks and leaves on the ground. Nobody has died lately so that's a good thing.

Well that's about it for now.
